Where will my massage or bodywork session take place? At my new  office, located at 360 Hoohana St, Unit A106, Kahului, Hi 96732

Must I be completely undressed? No, Medical Massage Therapy takes place fully dressed

What parts of my body will be massaged? The postural assessment determines where most of the time is spent, in order to provide pain relief. The therapist targets specific regions of muscles located at or around the joints in order to stop the relentless pain and pulling sensations. Most report 80% -100 % relief after one session.man on floor very relaxed on his back feet spread wide

What do you think? Does he look relaxed?

What will the massage or bodywork feel like? It will "hurt so good" as they say. You are always in charge of your pain, and simply communicate with a thumbs up to go deeper, or thumbs down to lesson the pressure. The therapist maintains eye contact at all times until you are out of pain, and gives you many opportunities to vocalize your feelings and guide the practitioner into doing what is right for you. My hands and skills are driven by your responses and communication.

Are there different kinds of massage and bodywork?  Yes, and it is important to communicate any discomfort as it is happening, that is why the majority of the massage takes place with you on your back. This enables the practitioner to "read" your responses to treatment , cultivate trust and do the best possible job of relieving pain. Until the muscles in the front of the body are relaxed and elongated, it is my opinion that no long lasting changes can happen to your back muscles. The tightened and bent over posture  is why you feel the painful pulling on your shoulder blades, back and neck. You really have to straighten up, in order to relieve your back!

What should I do during the massage or bodywork session? Make sure you are fully hydrated and if / when, you need to void, speak up and take care of yourself . This is expected as we are releasing a lot of tissue waste and you do not want to reabsorb it.

How will I feel after the massage or bodywork session? Many clients report feeling lighter, pain free and relaxed. It is however , quite common to be sore the next day. On day 3 and 4, most people are quite surprised from their increased, pain free mobility.

What are the benefits of massage and bodywork? Regular sessions combined prior to physical therapy help you recover from a fall faster, and helps you get your confidence back . No more falling because you can't control your tight legs or knees.

Are there any medical conditions that would make massage or bodywork inadvisable? Yes, some clients should have a physician release them for future treatments by a medical massage practitioner. In some cases, the physician will prescribe a particular region of the body, and if so the therapist is to follow the physician in all respects.
